While ESL teachers can ensure that their students are benefiting from the best research and methodology in the field by working closely with ESL publishers, they can also locate fantastic (and free!) resources at various ESL websites.
Sites have been carefully chosen for each of the respective ESL areas related to grammar, writing, and pronunciation, and over time more qualified sites will be added, so be sure to visit this page again. Links have also been created to some Suite 101 articles that will prove useful as well.
Check out some of the great grammar exercises at the ESL Activities site.
Some of the greatest teaching resources available through the internet are practice lessons and exercises related to the concepts of simple, compound, and complex sentences.
Often used by ESL grammar teachers to guarantee student understanding of basic English sentence structure and by ESL writing instructors to help students develop a practical writing style, these sites are highly recommended for students interested in a self-study regimen of these sentence types - see article ESL Students Study Sentence Types.
And in conjunction with a review of the various ESL websites discussing sentence types, take a look at my article introducing a sentence-writing exercise titled Copying Lesson.
In conjunction with the Copying Lesson, ESL teachers will often seek out sites that go beyond simply "renaming" grammar study as writing study. This happens all to often in ESL programs and individual classes, particularly since so many program directors and department chairs are trending toward the numbers -- in other words, they want to be able to quantify the results of students' writing. But ESL instructors should be wary of latching on to the fill-in-the-blank or multiple choice method of teaching writing, and the site below offers more than enough opportunity for a teacher to steer away from such an outdated style of writing instruction.

Epron.com's pronunciation website is another great place for ESL teachers to send their students for self-study practice or in-class exercise review.
